Casselman Noise Bylaw 

The Noise Bylaw 2007-198 aims at protecting public interest and promoting peace and quiet for the residents of Casselman.

Key points 

The following would be considered as violations under the bylaw. 

  • Racing with a motorized vehicle.
  • Squealing tires. 
  • Operating a vehicle making unnecessary noise due to malfunction or vehicle modifications. 
  • Letting an engine or any vehicle run for more than five minutes, while parked in a residential area. 
  • Operating a vehicle, combustion engine or construction equipment without an effective exhaust-muffling device. 
  • Using the horn of a vehicle or any other signalling device in ways other than good safety practice. 
  • Allowing persistent barking or other persistent noisemaking by animals and birds kept as household pets. 
  • Selling or advertising by shouting, yelling or amplified sound. 
  • Discharging firearms. 

Noise from Activities Restricted to Certain Hours 

The noise from certain activities such as construction, music and operation of domestic power tools is prohibited during certain times. Please refer to the bylaw for provisions. 

Fines 

Fines for violations range from $100 to $125.

Exemptions 

You may request an exemption from any of the provisions described in Schedule A and B of the bylaw.

To ask for an exemption, please send a letter addressed to Council including date, time, location, activity and reason for the exemption.

File a Complaint or Report a Violation 

To register a complaint with the Municipality about a perceived infraction, you must fill out a complaint form.
