Becoming a Candidate
Nominations for the positions as outlined below will be received by the Clerk of the Municipality of Casselman at any time during normal office hours ( 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) commencing
Monday, May 2nd, 2022 and the deadline for submission is on Nomination Day
Friday, August 19th, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Candidates will be required to file the following documents in the office of the clerk :

A signed nomination paper - Nomination Form (Form 1)
- A valid proof of identity
- A filing fee of $200.00 for the Head of Council and $100.00 for all other offices. Candidates will be required to provide proof of identity.
A candidate must be an eligible elector in order to be an eligible elector.
A person is eligible to be a candidate if they are,
- A resident of the Municipality of Casselman;
- A canadian citizen;
- At least 18 years old; and
- Not legally prohibited from voting
A Candidate must not be:
- An inmate of a penal or correctional institution under imprisonment sentence;
- A staff member, unless he or she takes an unpaid leave of absence during the campaign period and resigns once elected to office. Some exceptions applies to volunteer firefighters;
- A corporation, judge of any court, a member of the legislative assembly of Ontario, a senator or a member of the House of commons.
- A person convicted of corrupt practice as described in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996;
Other restrictions may apply.
The term of office: November 15, 2022 and end on November 14th, 2026.
