We are hiring : Director of Recreation

POSITION SUMMARY

Are you a champion of community engagement? Do you have a vision of an active and healthy community? Are you a skilled negotiator and an outstanding administrator? We have an opening on our team for a new Recreation and Leisure Services Director.

Under the authority of the General Manager, the incumbent plays a strategic role by advising the Municipality and directing the management of Recreational and Leisure Services according to the new master plan. He supervises the management of material resources, support to organizations, the organization of events, and ensures the financial management of the service, including the budget, calls for tenders, asset management and capital projects. He is responsible for youth and seniors’ initiatives, special events, volunteers and reservations for municipal facilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Post-secondary diploma - college certificate or a recognized university - in the field of recreation, business administration or an equivalent combination of experience in facilities and recreation management.

Five years of management experience in various aspects, but especially in managing the facilities of a multifunctional sports complex.

In-depth knowledge of recreation program trends and opportunities and community development techniques.

Good knowledge of recreation leadership, volunteer management, community development and running special events and municipal recreation programs.

General knowledge of IT, mastery of common software, project management and supervision.

Demonstrated experience in developing policies and standards in the operation of municipal services.

Class ‘G’ driving license.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Bilingualism both oral and in writing.
