In Ontario, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) regulates accessibility issues and aims to improve accessibility in areas that affect the daily living of people with disabilities.
Municipalities have obligations regarding accessibility and must meet standards in the following sectors: information and communications, employment, transportation, design of public spaces and customer service.
The
Municipal Elections Act, 1996 requires municipal administration to submit a report to Council on the accessibility of elections for all voters. For more information, please consult the Election page.
