Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
As a municipality, the Municipality of Casselman is subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).
The purposes of this Act are to:
- Provide the public with a right of access to information under the control of institutions.
- Protect the privacy of individuals with respect to personal information about themselves held by institutions and to provide individuals with a right of access to that information.
The Municipality of Casselman promotes a culture of openness and accountability. This website contains readily available records including agendas and minutes; financial statements; performance measurements and many other types of plans and reports.
If you cannot find the information you seek online, please contact the concerned department manager or Chief Administrative Officer for assistance. We will let you know whether the information can be provided informally or if you have to submit a formal request under MFIPPA. Personal information about our taxpayers is confidential and cannot be accessed through MFIPPA.
Requesting Information from the Municipality of Casselman
Informal request
- To make an informal request, send an email to [email protected] or call 613-764-3139, extension 260.
Making a MFIPPA request
To make a formal request under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act:
- Go to the Ontario Government website for the Access Request Form. Follow the instructions to fill out the form.
- Fill out the form. Indicate Municipality of Casselman in the field “Name of institution request made to”.
- Print and sign the form.
- Attach a $5.00 cheque, payable to Municipality of Casselman. Additional fees may apply if the request is deemed time-consuming.

Fees estimate
An estimate will be given to the requester if the fees should exceed $25.00. If fees exceed $100.00, a 50% deposit may be asked from the requester.
Appeal rights
The requester has the right to appeal the decision rendered by the clerk within 30 days from the notice of decision to the Information and Privacy Commissioner. Appeal fees are $25 for a request for general records, $10 for a request to personal information and $10 for a request for correction of personal information.
