Boards and Advisory Committees
The public is invited to participate in municipal affairs by serving on various boards and advisory committees.
Objectives of the Boards and Committees
- Improve relations between politicians and community members.
- Ensure greater transparency in municipal affairs.
- Gain a better understanding of community needs.
- Solve specific issues and bring new ideas.
- Strike a balance between the levels of services and taxation.
- Assist the municipality in being more efficient in the implementation of projects.
Composition of Committees and Terms of Office
- Committees include two elected officials and members of the public appointed by Council.
- The term of office is four years and coincides with that of the municipal council.

Become a Member of a Committee
- After municipal elections, a notice is published in a local newspaper and our website asking people to apply to vacant positions.
- If a seat becomes vacant before the planned end of a term, the vacancy will be announced in a local newspaper and on our website.
- Individuals wishing to become a member of a committee must submit an email or a letter of presentation with a copy of their resume.
Casselman Public Library Board of Directors
In Ontario, public libraries are created by municipal by-laws and governed by public library boards, as outlined in the Public Libraries Act. Visit the Casselman Public Library.

Committee of Adjustment and Property Standards
The Committee of Adjustment is authorized by the Ontario Planning Act to grant minor variances from the provisions of the Zoning By-law, to permit extensions, enlargements or variations of existing legal non-conforming uses. The committee meets when minor variance requests are received.
Committee members were appointed at the meeting of February 8, 2023.
